St Ives has its own Tate gallery, plus lots of other galleries with a wide variety of art and paintings, historic houses, and gardens. The Kidz R Us Youth Theater Company has a full program of productions throughout the year. There is something of interest for everyone.
If it is beaches you are looking for, the fantastic beaches of Porthkidney sands, Carbis Bay, Porthminster, Porthgwidden and Porthmeor (great surfing) all have their own unique character and offer a wide variety to suit different tastes.
Cornish Mining has World Heritage status and there are numerous places to visit. Cornish mining played an important part in the distribution of mining technology around the world. Geevor Tin Mine offers the opportunity to go underground.
Other places of interest are the scenic coastal path walks, Golf courses, fishing, boat trips, horse riding and trips to the Isles of Scilly by boat, plane or helicopter.
The Eden Project is an hours drive away, with St Michael’s Mount and the Minack Open Air Theatre close by.
St Ives has lovely old cobble streets and a quaint fishing harbour, with lots of restaurants and pubs, gift shops, cafes and Cornish pasties galore, not forgetting its own lifeboat station.
